Matthew John Heath

LATAM Risk and Crisis Analysis and Consulting

Matthew John Heath is an honorably discharged United States Marine Corps veteran, security consultant, and international commentator with deep expertise in risk analysis, crisis response, and geopolitical security dynamics across Latin America. His professional work spans government advisory, corporate strategic risk mitigation, and high-stakes advocacy for wrongful detainees.

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he specialized in communications and signals intelligence and was decorated for valor during early battles of the Iraq War, Matthew transitioned to global security consulting. He has supported U.S. government programs and private-sector partners with security strategy, situational analysis, and operational planning worldwide.

In 2020, Matthew was arrested and wrongfully detained by Venezuelan authorities on politically motivated charges. During this period, his case became an international human rights and diplomatic focal point, drawing support from U.S. government leaders and advocacy coalitions determined to secure his freedom. In 2022, he was released as part of a prisoner exchange and has since continued his work advocating for others unjustly detained abroad while building his consulting practice.
